Shen Qingshuang is a noble-born “Guanyin,” yet also a caged beast confined within the inner chambers. Mu Yunzhao is a general’s daughter, a “Rakshasa,” and the lone wolf of the capital. She despises the Rakshasa for her defiance of convention; she loathes the Guanyin for her arrogance and rigid propriety.
Yet neither knows that, within her dreams, the “Guanyin” longs to tear apart her silken robes, burn the rules that bind her, and fall into the abyss together with her. Nor does she know that, deep within her heart, the “Rakshasa” weaves a net, ensnaring sacred hymns, yearning to entangle with her to the very end.
Is it the Guanyin who subdues the demon, or the demon who conquers the Guanyin? The answer lies hidden in that first meeting, in the depths of spring, when the Rakshasa grasped the reins, and the Guanyin’s strings fell into disarray…
